Press Release: Mozambique begins the preparation of second Progress Report to be presented in February 2026

On Friday, June 20 of the current year, the National Forum and the National Secretariat of the APRM Mozambique held a meeting with the professionals from the Social Communication, in Maputo city, with a view to ensuring a participatory approach and informing the various sectors of Mozambican society about the ongoing process of preparing of the 2nd progress report, on the second evaluation of the country.

On the occasion, the Chairperson of the National Forum, Professor Lourenço do Rosário, underlined the importance of the involvement of the media in the process, highlighting their role as strategic partners in promoting good governance.

“The media is an important power that is why we believe it should be here, with us discussing this important theme. One of our goals is to appeal to the media to see this activity of progress report as an extremely important issue toward good governance. When I talk about good governance, I am not just talking about the Government, I am talking about all of us and the institutions, including the media itself,” he said.

The second Progress Report aims to measure the indicators in relation to the recommendations and challenges identified in the second assessment of the country, carried out between 2018 and 2019.

The progress report, which is scheduled to be presented in February 2026 at the APRM Summit, on the side meeting of the African Union Summit, should also formulate and propose new recommendations to respond to persistent challenges in several areas of governance, including the fifth thematic area: Natural Disasters, which aims to measure the country’s resilience against various shocks related to natural disasters  as well as a Identify and highlight government efforts to foster the population’s well-being in the face of multiple risks and shocks and give recommendations, for the benefit of the people of Mozambique.
