Cornelia Rowena Amoah is a distinguished Ghanaian media professional, governance advocate, and author with over four decades of experience in journalism, public affairs, and institutional communications across Ghana and the international arena.

She brings to the Governing Council a unique blend of strategic communication expertise, deep governance experience, and a lifelong commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement.

Ms. Amoah previously served as Head of Public Affairs at the National African Peer Review Mechanism (2008–2012), where she played a pivotal role in strengthening public awareness and stakeholder ownership of the APRM process in Ghana. In this role, she led national communications strategy, coordinated engagement between district oversight committees and the Secretariat, and managed media relations to enhance the visibility and credibility of the Mechanism. She also contributed to regional integration efforts, including a leading role in the first West African Conference for the Advancement of the APRM.

Her extensive career in media includes serving as Head of News and Current Affairs at TV Africa Limited, where she established and led newsroom operations, trained broadcast journalists, and shaped editorial direction during the station’s formative years. Earlier, she held multiple senior roles at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, rising from reporter to Senior Editor and becoming a respected voice in national broadcasting.

Ms. Amoah also served as an Information Specialist at the United States Embassy in Ghana, where she coordinated high-level media engagements and played a key role during historic diplomatic events, including the visit of Bill Clinton to Ghana. Her work facilitated strategic communication between government, media, and civil society stakeholders.

A passionate advocate for women’s leadership, she is the author of the landmark publication Women of Distinction – Ghana, a 390-page volume launched by former President John Agyekum Kufuor, which chronicles the achievements of fifty outstanding Ghanaian women across sectors.

Throughout her career, Ms. Amoah has contributed to national development initiatives, including serving on the Communications Sub-Committee of the National Education Reform Implementation Committee and supporting civic engagement and electoral observation initiatives. Her professional development includes international fellowships and training in governance, media, and citizen participation across Africa, Europe, and the United States.

Ms. Amoah holds a Diploma in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism and has received multiple recognitions for her contributions to media and public service.
